Featured Guest Speaker: Cindy Powers, Division Director Justice Resource Institute, The Little Heroes Group Home
Little Heroes is The Nature Connection’s newest partner site serving children with complex trauma. Ms. Powers will discuss the positive impacts of our therapeutic nature-assisted programs. Little Heroes Group Home is a co-ed intensive group home designed to help children ages 5-11 develop skills to manage complex trauma in order to successfully transition to a permanent placement in the community.
Cindy Powers earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She has over 25 years experience working with children and adolescents involved with both the Department of Children and Families and the Department of Juvenile Justice. She has been employed by Justice Resource Institute for the past 6 years. She began as the Program Director of the GRIP Program, Senior Program Director and is currently the Northeast Division Director overseeing more than 8 programs and 200 staff. Cindy was instrumental in opening the Little Heroes Home, the first JRI program to serve the latency population. She is trained in the ARC Model and is also a member of the agency’s Psychological First Aid trauma response team.
